Breast Cancer Events in the UAE

In the UAE, cancer is the second cause of death with breast cancer being the one affecting women, according to an article by Gulf News. Although breast cancer is believed to effect women who are above 40 years and above, however, breast cancer have been effecting more younger women, as well.

Breast cancer can be treated if caught early, but women tend to ignore the symptoms.

Almost 30 per cent of women who are detected with breast cancer come to us in the third stage, and this is a trend we want to reduce through awareness campaigns,” Al Hattawi said, Gulf News.

More so, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every 30 seconds worldwide.

It is also important to note that breast cancer doesn’t only affect women, it also does effect men too – as they have a small amount of breast tissue as women do – however it is not as common.

Every October, there are a lot of events, campaigns and initiatives carried to raise awareness on breast cancer and/or raise funds for breast cancer research in the UAE. Here I would like to list anything that I come across. If you know of any other events, drop me a line so I can highlight them below!
