Heading Off To My 2nd Int’l Competition

I come back with GREAT NEWS.

I am off Wednesday morning, 8th of May to my second international competition to represent the UAE in the 10th International ASVÖ–NÖ Women´s Weightlifting Grand Prix in Austria, May 9-12th.

My hunger for competition really grew upon my return from my first international competition the Arnold Weightlifting Championships and when I heard of this competition just TWO weeks ago, I decided to do everything in my power to get visa on time and make all the necessary arrangements. Just today I got my confirmation that I am, indeed, going! It has been a rather rough couple of weeks relying on complete faith on the conception of this happening.

Must I add, my PB’s have been coming along nicely as I have started to gear up (with the little time I have) from the adrenaline rush of a competition coming up, although my training post-Arnold Championships was mainly SQUAT my heart out (so gaining strength), and A LOT OF technique work.

As a result of taking a few steps back, I have progressed in my lifts as I have tested last week, which is exciting to see, but of course, the sport is a long process and a journey and I still have a lot to work on, but ONE STEP AT A TIME!

Unfortunately, I have got a number of minor hiccups in the past week, especially with a wrist sprain which is quite the injury– currently doing everything I can to make it heal in time for the competition and laying off a lot of heavy duty work, and icing the heck out of it!

So I will be again competing in the 53kg category and my competition will take place on Friday, 10th of May at 7p.m. (Austria time).

Again, the goal of competing at this stage is gaining the experience, the feel of being on a stage with 6 attempts and Inshallah a higher total than my previous competition. Each kilo counts!

I again wanted to thank my biggest supporters – My sponsor Sultan Saeed Al Darmaki, FAST athletic training, and UAE weightlifting federation for their continuous support!

Stay tuned for when I get back………..!
