Journey to the Olympics Crowdfunding

CrowdFunding Campaign, Competing at Arnolds 2014, Training & Things!

Dear Readers,

I know I have been gone for so long – four months – without any updates regarding my training, progress, and plans. I’ve been quite busy and dealing with some major shifts and changes — which are all leading and taking me closer to my goal more than ever!

1. Crowdfunding Campaignrewards

Finding sponsors in the past 1.5 years have been a big challenge, especially for the sport of weightlifting in this region (and worldwide too!). Therefore, I have launched a crowd funding campaign to invite people to take part in my journey and act as possible sponsors (or anonymous donors) in return for rewards for their level of contribution! There is 33 days left for the campaign and funds raised will go toward my training expenses, competition expenses, physical therapy, and training camps, especially that the OLYMPIC Qualification, IWF Worlds is this year in November . So every contribution, truly, DOES make a difference, and it starts as little as $10

2. Arnold Weightlifting Championships!

Last year in 2013, competing at the Arnold Weightlifting championships was my first EVER weightlifting competition. I was inexperienced, still in the process of learning techniques — but it was surely a life changing event for me, and I am going again this year to compete this upcoming FRIDAY, 28th of Feb in USA, Ohio. I am very excited to be competing again, and found a last minute sponsor who’s covering the cost for this competition. I haven’t competed in around 5 months, and training has been quite unstable for a few of those months, but I am now back — and definitely stronger, and a much better lifter and athlete! So stay tuned ;).

3. Training 1656233_10153892202530438_1984306284_n

For a big chunk of last year I haven’t had a coach and was training alone most of the time. It wrecked havoc on me put simply, however, despite training in tough conditions,  environment, no training partners, not training with other athletes or weightlifters — I still kept going. Because I am a fighter and not a quitter. Perseverance only paid off. I am now being fully coached by Natalia Tsoulia, and have been welcomed by an amazing MMA facility in Dubai, Team Nogueira Dubai, who are accommodating me as an Olympic weightlifter in their facility. Both Natalia and Noguiera have been very supportive of me and I thank them for all they have done/are doing to help me move forward with my sport.

4. Other things!

Earlier this year, I started my year with an awesome trip…where to? GREECE! I went to train with greek Olympians and serious weightlifters in a real weightlifting gym! Something, that unfortunately, is not readily available here in the UAE, in which I hope will change as I keep training, and keep fighting, and find the support I need. It was truly an amazing experience for me which helped solidify my love for the sport. I received amazing  feedback from Olympians and world-class coaches about my techniques, the fact I have started this sport late (at the age of 22), and that I have amazing potential.

Until next time!

Make sure to visit the campaign link and make a small contribution if you’re able to! <3

Yours Truly,
